New Construction

From the ground up, from a picture to a home. We start with you and the architect to produce a set of drawings that will help you realize your dream. Building a custom house is complex, expensive, and time consuming. There is no way around that so it pays to have a General Contractor who understands every aspect of homebuilding. We will work closely with you or your architect and designer to ensure that all of the details are considered early in the process. We understand that there are time and budget constraints and missing targets can be expensive.

Whole House Renovations

Whole House Renovations takes your existing house and transforms it to a home. Most existing systems are replaced along with structural and layout changes. Whether traditional, period, or contemporary, the end result should be what you envisioned. This type of renovation is the most rewarding for you but is also the most difficult, especially if the house needs to be lived in during construction. It takes a special skill to orchestrate a whole house renovation when you need to stay and we can help make it as easy as possible.

Additions

Additions are easier on you as the construction zone can usually be isolated from the rest of the house. However, services such as water, electric, and heat will be disrupted periodically and dust and debris are constant companions. Let us minimize those inconveniences; we know how since we have lived through them ourselves.

Major Remodeling

Major Remodeling may only involve one floor or area, but it still can be a big disruption if not done correctly and on time. Many times there are structural changes and a lot of cosmetic work needed to accomplish your dreams. Noise, strange people wandering around, and safety concerns require a General Contractor who understands what you will be facing and can help you through it.

Kitchens, Baths and Basements

kitchen-mclean-after Kitchens, Baths and Basements present the biggest challenges for Contractors. You have your kitchen remodeled and you lose full use of it for a while, and partial use is lost for some additional time.

We can set up a temporary kitchen that allows you to still have many meals at home if you wish. Planning for a kitchen remodel takes an experienced Contractor who knows what can go wrong and takes care to keep that from happening.

Bathroom renovations are also inconvenient, although most homes have additional facilities. Many times, however, bathrooms will be the most remodeled room in the house and also the most prone to surprises due to previous work. You need a Contractor who has the experience necessary to make appropriate corrections and one who will strive to finish on time so you can get your home back.

While basement renovations are not as disruptive as other work since the area can be isolated, many times there are situations which will be inconvenient for you. Noise, landscape damage, safety, and people in your home require you to select a Contractor who will have respect for you and your home.

Decks and Porches

ipe-deck-lake-anna Decks and Porches are usually the easiest for you to deal with since most everything is done outside. However, there are safety issues, landscape disruption, people wandering around, and material piles. Careful planning on our part minimizes these issues and our attention to detail will ensure a completed project that you will enjoy for a very long time.

Project Rescues

Project Rescues are services we provide for homeowners who are having problems with their contractor. Somewhere along the project timeline, you start to get a feeling that something is not quite right. Maybe it is just the look of things, the lack of decent communication from the contractor, or the project seems to be really dragging out. You think you see code issues, safety problems, or worse, poor quality workmanship. Plans are not being followed, the contractor is leaving details and decisions to unqualified subordinates, and you’ve lost faith in him. Maybe he skipped town, went bankrupt, or he just won’t return your calls. Read more >>

Homestead Renovations can step in immediately to bring competence and professionalism back to the project. We work with independent inspectors who can check the entire project for code compliance, provide a detailed report on compliance issues, and participate as an expert witness if required. No matter what the problems may be on the project, we can quickly develop a plan that will get the project back on schedule, on budget, and raise your comfort level and satisfaction. Our Project Manager will be on site continuously, ensuring that everything will run smoothly and relieving you of the burden of day to day project management. Mistakes in construction, layout, or design will be corrected as well as fit and finish problems.

Client Rescues

Client Rescues are services we provide for architects and designers. No matter which way you look at it, when a job goes south, you’ve got problems. No one wants a call from the Client asking where the General Contractor is since they haven’t seen him in weeks and he won’t return calls. Ok, so you didn’t hire or recommend the GC so why is the Client calling you? Ok, so you did hire or recommend him and YOU can’t reach him. Maybe he skipped town, went bankrupt, or is overextended. Either way, you are now involved in project supervision, probably more than you would like. Of course, project supervision to you means showing up on site a couple of times a month to make sure all is well, not chasing subcontractors and waiting for inspectors.

Homestead Renovations can be on site quickly to meet with your Client, assess the project status, and provide you with a roadmap to completion that will satisfy both you and your Client. A full time Project Manager will be assigned who will assume responsibility for all aspects of the project, assure code and safety compliance, and provide you with periodic status reports. You will not get another call like that again.

Disaster Recovery

Disaster Recovery is every homeowner’s worst nightmare. Once the fire is out, the water removed, or the tree is cut away from the roof, now what? Your insurance company representative may suggest a contractor but you are not required to use them. Most companies who do disaster recovery renovations simply have the insurance company’s best interest at heart, not yours, as the insurance company may provide them a lot of work. We can respond immediately to your problem and we will work with you and the insurance company to get you back in your home quickly. From personal effects storage to making changes to your home, we can help.
