Help With Contractor Problems
Ok, so you’ve got a problem with a contractor in your home. Now what? Resolve Now by Calling us at 703-966-6092. We will come out, evaluate your situation, and suggest a course of action should you desire to get rid of your problem contractor. No solution is likely to be easy, cheap, or painless, though, but your problems probably won’t go away on their own.
Once you get past the initial embarrassment of having fallen for the tactics of a bad contractor, taking action to mitigate further damage is very important. HOMESTEAD RENOVATIONS can help remove the burdens placed on you by a dishonest contractor through our experience and efficient management of the project. No matter what has gone wrong, our only mission is to get the project back on track and on its way to a successful completion with the minimum amount of discomfort to you. There is no charge for the initial consultation and any fees for our services prior to signing a contract will be clearly explained in writing. Fees for corrective action for safety, security, and structural issues are dependent upon the severity of the problem.
Our first visit is designed to assess what the project requirements are, where the project is at this point, and determine if any safety, security, or structural conditions need to be addressed. Should any of these conditions be present, we will, with your approval, take immediate action to rectify these issues. Also, we can set up a consultation with any design professionals who have had input with the project. We will also determine if there is a need for an independent inspection to determine code compliance.
Once the initial evaluation is complete, we will develop a plan for corrective action and a roadmap for completion. Everything will be documented, photographed, and forwarded to for your records. We will present a comprehensive contract specifying exactly what is to be accomplished; the fixed price cost of the project, timetable for completion, and our warranties after the project is completed.
You should not just cancel your agreement with the bad contractor unless you have grounds to do so as spelled out in that contract. We can suggest attorneys who are familiar with contract and construction law or you can use your own attorney to evaluate your position with regards to the contract you have with your initial contractor. Be aware that there may be consequences for firing your contractor and you are best guided by competent legal advice.
Once you accept our services, you will be introduced to the project manager who will oversee your project. Our first action will be to clean and secure the site and make appropriate changes to the structure to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and plans. Consultations with you and your design professionals will establish the baseline for any further progress. Product and material selections, color choices, and layout changes will need to be made early on so as to not hold up progress later. Permits, as required, will be transferred or new ones pulled. New agreements will be made with subcontractors. If you have a favorite sub, we will work with them however, they fall under our contract terms.
Throughout the project, you can be assured that you will receive consistent and professional services. Our goal is to bring your project to completion quickly while minimizing any disruption to your life, thus allowing you to realize the dreams and needs that you are expecting.
